Services We Provide

Tree Removal
We can remove a tree by felling it from the ground or in some cases we have to use ropes and harness's to climb the tree and use free fall techniques if the site allows.
When the site does not allow this because of buildings, pots, ornamental plants or fences we have to use friction devices, ropes and pulleys to remove the tree in smaller sections being able to lower them in a controlled and safe manner.
Crown Reduction/Pollarding/
Crown Thin/Crown Lift
-
Crown Reduction - the shortening of all or a few branches overall making a smaller but more dense tree. This also reduces the weight on the overall tree making the tree safer in high winds.
-
Crown lift - removing or reducing branches starting from the base of the tree, working your way up the tree to your desired height. The Legal height is 5.2m over the road and 2.4m over a footpath.
-
Crown Thin - from the main branch structure you would normally remove one smaller secondary branch from every primary branch throughout the canopy and only remove up to 25% of the tree. This lets in dappled light, also allows wind to flow through the canopy instead of pushing against it.
-
Pollarding - removing all of the growth to bare wood leaving a wooded frame structure. Normally this is done at a young age otherwise it can be detrimental to the trees health.

Hedge Reduction/Trimming
-
Hedge Reduction - reducing the height of a hedge, or cutting the sides or face to make a narrower and shorter hedge.
-
Hedge trimming - annual trimming of hedges and shrubs. With certain hedges it is important to maintain them either annually, biannually or worst case three to four years.
Removal of Deadwood
Deadwood is branches that have naturally died off due to not benefiting the tree anymore.
In some cases the whole tree or some of the very tips of the branches are dying back. This would mean that your tree is struggling health wise and might need a professional to have a look.
It can also prevent damage to buildings and structures you may have in your garden if you have some big dead branches. Plus removing it gives you peace of mind when your kids or grandkids are playing in the garden.
By removing these dead branches it can prevent fungus/insect infestation, keeping your trees healthier.

Stump Grinding
Removal of stumps
Here at Furness Tree Care Ltd we have access to tracked and pedestrian stump grinders.
We like to use both as they both have there places, one is a bigger and more powerful machine controlled by remote and the pedestrian one is smaller and less powerful but manually controlled .
However the tracked machine does shrink down to 28 inches but it doesn't always let you get into some of the narrower side entrances that's why we think its best to use both!
The reasons to remove stumps would be;
-
it looks more appealing with it gone
-
if your relandscaping or building a outbuilding or an structure
-
can be a trip hazard
Tree and Hedge Planting
We provide Professional tree and hedge plantation.
We use the right methods for the right trees either one stake ( can be straight or at a forty five degree angle or two steaks with a cross member for extra support then using tree ties to attach the tree to the stakes.
We start from separating the top soil and the sub soil if the tree is deep enough and once the tree is in and upright we then place the stake in the right place until it supports itself.
Once this is done we start by using the top soil first so your tree gets the right nutrients instead of broken down soil with no nutrients and putting the sub soil on the top to replenish the soil. We will decide what mulch is best for the certain type of tree being planted and use a couple of shovels full helping your tree kickstart into life!
